What is your environmental policy?
Dannie has always been a big advocate for nature. Having grown up in Yorkshire, surrounded by countryside and choosing to spend her days outside as much as possible, respecting nature, trying to be considerate of it whilst harnessing what it has to offer is important to Dannie and in turn, is important to Indi-ssentials.

This world is too beautiful to lose what we have, as a result of that our focus is on using non synthetic products and most of our products (except the oil burner oils)do not use synthetic ingredients. We try to use glass wherever possible and give the option of glass or plastic on our hair and body oils.

We don’t box products individually as we personally see this as a waste. We reuse what we can and the fabric that goes on the top of our jars is off cuts of fabric from here in Jaipur. We try to source our oils from India to cut down on the carbon footprint of the travel aspect of our raw materials and because we also believe it’s wonderful to have so many oils grown here in India.

We gift pack our items in areca leaf gift sets which are biodegradable and come from fallen leaves. We package with shredded paper. We post our items in used postage packaging to keep waste down and to give another lease of life to the materials.

We choose not to use oils that are heavily endangered such as Indian sandalwood and we check which oils are on the at risk register for plants and either do not use them or use them minimally…..even if it means losing customers because we don’t stock their favourite aromatherapy scent.

Why some glass and some plastic?
Environmental concerns have always been a huge party of Dannie’s life and so it was essential that this carried through into Indi-ssentials too. We try to use more eco friendly packaging where possible but there are times where it is more beneficial/desired by customers to have a plastic bottle instead. We give customers the choice between plastic and glass for our body oils and many of our products come in glass only and we have the option of returning the jars and bottles back to us if you live locally.

I received my item through used packaging, is this the norm?
Yes! In our everyday lives many of us receive so much packaging and it seems an absolute waste to only use it once and recycling only goes so far and so we believe in reusing packaging wherever possible so it gets another use. We end up collecting so much bubble wrap and plastic bags so please be aware, even if your item comes in plastic it will not have been bought by us and will have already had one use. Caring about the environment is too important to purchase unnecessary new packaging each time and it means we can keep our postage costs reflective of the actual delivery charges.

Why don’t the products come in individual boxes?
At Indi-ssentials we’re about providing great quality products without the gimmicks and whilst trying to respect nature as much as possible and for us, that involves not providing products in boxes that will only be disregarded after opening. Yes, many of the boxes could be recycled but as many of us are aware now, how much is recycled is hugely debatable.

We’d prefer not to pass on the product cost of a box on to you the consumer and instead keep our prices fare and focused on the contents inside.

How did Indi-ssentials begin?
Indi-ssentials first came about after Dannie had moved to India and begun her therapy business. Struggling to find non synthetic quality oils with an aromatherapy scent to work with and having had a bad experience with synthetic oils in the past, she set about making her own oils for treatments. Clients commented on how much they liked the oil and smells and wanted to purchase them and the first set of oils was sold.

Having worked as a therapist for many years, Dannie was used to working with blended oils and knew a lot about them and their benefits but this was her first time creating them herself and her passion for them soon developed. She took an indepth aromatherapy course and passed with distinction. The oil collection began to grow, as too did Dannie’s interest in other non synthetic and more natural based products

Next up was making a muscle ease balm for her mum who suffers with psoriatic arthritis. Dannie wanted to create something that would help ease some of her Mum’s pain so she set about creating a balm. Over the years she has perfected her recipe and now the muscle ease balm is one of her best sellers.

From here the ideas flowed, the requests came in, the love of using only natural products grew further and the desire to provide a whole range of more natural/non synthetic products became a reality and is what you see on this website today.

Why should I use Indi-ssentials products?
Whilst we continue to grow, we still remain small and focused on creating the product for the consumer. A product will bring them joy, relief, uplift them, de stress and we don’t stray from that.

We focus on using quality ingredients even if their more costly, so that you get the right product for you and we put creating a quality product above profit margins. We love it when people enjoy and get something out of our product and our aim is to make something you enjoy using and it is at the heart of the business.

So as for why you use should use our products?
We’re customer focused and always put this before profits.
We’re passionate about creating products that really do benefit people.
Our purpose is to stay small so we never lose that hand made, high quality focus and with every product checked by Dannie.

We care about the environment and always have and so we keep that in mind through out our making process.

Are the products safe to use?
Our products have been put through inhouse testing to ensure the stability of the products and ensure we are delivering a safe and high quality product. Any products, such as candles and room sprays, have warning labels on them to ensure they comply with safety regulations.

As a small business we are committed to delivering products that make our customers happy and so we ensure safety is at the heart of that.

How do i know which product is best for me?
All products have a write up with them so you can learn more about all the products we offer, however you’re welcome to get in touch and we can provide further insight on what we think might be a good choice for you if you are undecided.

What does natural products mean?
Natural can mean a lot of different things. It’s a term so widely used and widely misused. For us at Indi-ssentials it means no synthetic ingredients used including no micas. We do use a preservative in some of our products (those that require them) and this is the only way we feel we can keep our produce safe for use.

We hope this has answered a lot of your questions, however if there’s anything further you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to get in touch via email or through our contact page.
