What makes Indi-ssentials different
Growing up in Yorkshire and spending hours every day immersed outside in the countryside, nature has always been incredibly important to me, as too is the preservation of our wonderful habitat and the realisation that things are not endless, that recycling is limited, that following a zero waste lifestyle is a journey that we are forever learning on.
I’ve been fortunate to be be blessed with a wonderful family who instilled in me from a young age, the importance of compassion, of helping and supporting others. I feel in India this is never more true. India is incredibly diverse and what you see here can make you so grateful for others and at other times despair at the lives some people are held in.
All these factors affected Indi-ssentials and how it is created. Being environmentally and ethically conscious is a major importance to us.

Indi-ssentials Ethos
Indi-ssentials is very focused on trying to be environmentally and ethically conscious, not because it is the latest thing but it is a goal that I have strived my whole life to live by. As an individual, like many others, i have a long way to go, but just being on the journey is a great step in the right direction.
At Indi-ssentials, it’s about keeping it compact, customer centred, focused on creating natural products without the synthetic element. With trying to reduce our waste, with reusing things where possible, choosing natural packaging if we can, trying to use packaging that is reusable or recyclable. It’s about trying to reduce our impact at the same time as enjoying some of the beautiful gifts that nature has to offer.
It’s about working with small individuals and businesses who share a similar ethos or simply small businesses starting out so that we can support one another and allow each other to grow.
How are we doing this?
- We try to source organic oils if possible including those direct from India.
- Our Shea butter comes direct from a local farmer in Ghana.
- We use small independent traders in Delhi for our jute and our cotton bags.
- Our fabric comes from a local shop here in Jaipur and we use the offcut material so that it doesn’t go to waste.
- We employ local people and train them in what we are doing, providing work opportunities that were not previously there.
- Some of our packaging is made from areca leaf, so as natural as possible!
- We work with a variety of different NGOs to help promote and sell their products with them receiving the full profit in order to support the amazing work they do.
- We try to use as much glass packaging as possible but understand that some of our customers may require our plastic pet bottles for travel purposes.
- We reuse our packaging when sending items out and are very fortunate to partner with another business and get to reuse their packaging.
- We focus on making small batches of our products at one time, so the focus is always on ensuring high quality products.
- We repurpose so much of what we use, including the bottles that our products are sent to us in….that means we’re often staring at things wondering how we can reuse them!

Hopefully this has given you an insight into Indi-ssentials and how it really is a small, local business that aims to blend elements of the two cultures to bring products that nurture through nature.
